The #YourTurn Collaboration for 2022 is titled The Unseen Observer. School collaborators included Harvard-Westlake on the west side of Los Angeles, Katella High School in Anaheim Ca , Marlborough School, Los Angeles Ca and Summit High School in Fontana.
Students will engage with the work of Tommy Kha for inspiration and guiding themes. Participating teens used the work of this artist as a jumping-off point for an investigation into the self, their own families, personal communities, familiar spaces and histories. Student photographers considered traditional and digital imagery — from photograms, scans, portraits, still lifes, mask, old family snapshots, Self portraiture, streaming videos and even tattoos.
Visual symbols tell the world who we are, what inspires us, and where we have been. The Unseen Observer provided the inspiration and platform for teens to tell stories about themselves, their families and their communities. Below are some student works in progress “Unseen Observer.
